happy birthday to me!

it's my birthday on monday, and of course i'm having a sale :) take 30% off the whole shop through the month of may with code MAIBIRTHDAY. woohoo!

i'm celebrating a little early with a trip into new york this weekend to see the new great gatsby movie...! i've been excited about this movie since i saw the first trailer about a year ago or so. baz luhrmann has always been one of my favorite directors (moulin rouge, romeo + juliet) i cannot WAIT to get all decked out in my finest and dance the night away!

here's some gatsby inspiration to kick off the weekend!

In a cocktail shaker combine 1/4 cup each of gin and grapefruit juice, 1 tablespoon dry vermouth and a little crushed ice. Cover the container, shake the mixture well, and strain it into a stemmed glass over ice cubes. Makes 1 drink.  via gourmet.

of course i couldn't help but dress a little 20s-ish, so here's my modern take on a daisy-esque dress that i'll be pairing with my grandmother's vintage fur stole and some glitzy jewels:

new jewelry

i've been putting off adding new pretties for quite a while now, what with all this unpacking and decorating, (it takes longer than i thought to get situated!) so today, i finally got down to adding some of the jewelry that's just been waiting to debut in the shop. check it out!

you can find all these new pieces in the jewelry section of the shop - some of them are one of kind (that last one is actually a super rare vintage find!), so don't hesitate to snatch up your favorite before it's gone!

i've been painting my little heart out these days, too, so hopefully soon i'll be sharing some of my newest illustrations :)

new new new

i've been working away these past few days to try to upload some new goodies in the shop. check out the new brooches, prints, jewelry, and more, that are making their way onto the site!

there's also been an issue with shipping calculations on the site, and they have now been fixed! if you put multiple items in your cart, it will now be weighing things properly (certain items were coming up too heavy and causing the postage calculator to go a little overboard!) it's been an interesting problem solving session over here while i've been trying to sort that out, so hopefully everything should be working smoothly now! please feel free to let me know if you still see something that seems a little weird!

alright, it's back to work for me! i have a lot of fun and exciting things i'm working on these days, so stay tuned for more updates!

(and p.s. - don't those flower brooches just make you want spring to get here already!? i'm counting the days until warmer weather!)

vintage finds

i am having so much fun adding all the vintage goodies to the shop today. it's taking a bit longer than i would have liked, but i discovered another aspect of the listing process that i am getting pretty absorbed in - the history! now, i could just list everything with no extra descriptions, but as i'm researching each of these pieces, i'm discovering all the beautiful designs that are part of each of these patterns, the company's history, when each of the pieces was originally made, and so much more! it's down right exciting when i search and search and i finally see that the little dish in my hands is actually a rare piece of depression glass, or part of a pattern from the 1950s that was so extensive that you could basically outfit your whole kitchen in its little flowers! there is so much to each of these finds and i hope you enjoy the little pieces of history i have found to go along with them.
