new jewelry

i've been putting off adding new pretties for quite a while now, what with all this unpacking and decorating, (it takes longer than i thought to get situated!) so today, i finally got down to adding some of the jewelry that's just been waiting to debut in the shop. check it out!

you can find all these new pieces in the jewelry section of the shop - some of them are one of kind (that last one is actually a super rare vintage find!), so don't hesitate to snatch up your favorite before it's gone!

i've been painting my little heart out these days, too, so hopefully soon i'll be sharing some of my newest illustrations :)

i've been working away these past few days to try to upload some new goodies in the shop. check out the new brooches, prints, jewelry, and more, that are making their way onto the site!

there's also been an issue with shipping calculations on the site, and they have now been fixed! if you put multiple items in your cart, it will now be weighing things properly (certain items were coming up too heavy and causing the postage calculator to go a little overboard!) it's been an interesting problem solving session over here while i've been trying to sort that out, so hopefully everything should be working smoothly now! please feel free to let me know if you still see something that seems a little weird!

alright, it's back to work for me! i have a lot of fun and exciting things i'm working on these days, so stay tuned for more updates!

(and p.s. - don't those flower brooches just make you want spring to get here already!? i'm counting the days until warmer weather!)

i've become somewhat like one of santa's elves overe here, what with packing all these orders and such, (thank you! to everyone who is shopping!) and in my in between time, i've been wandering around the internet finding pretty things like it's nobody's business. i guess this is kind of like a little wishlist, although some of these wishes are a bit unrealistic (ahem, a new living room and designer sofa..) here are some of my discoveries over the past few days...

ok, no more daydreaming about all these lovely goodies :) it's back to work for me!

more new developments

so, besides the little illustration that marks the beginning of my new series (that you can see in my last post) i have also been busy toiling away over some other very exciting creative pursuits. above, you will see the beginnings of some jewelry that has been popping up in my studio. there are many, many more peieces that still need to be photographed and what not, so i'll keep you posted when everything is ready to be unveiled.

my inspiration comes from a place of nature and somewhat mystical sensibilities, so you can be sure to see lots of natural elements, mixed in with some vintage and one of a kind items that evoke an ethereal quality. since most of the pieces are either one of a kind or limited edition, it's becoming difficult to not just keep all these lovelies i've been creating :) i promise i'll share some of them though! :)

special surprise!

if you've noticed, i've been a wee bit distracted this week. (actually, i've been more like a big ball of chaos, or a kid who ate wayyyy too much candy, to tell you the truth!) next week i have a super special surprise in store for you :) i can't reveal it yet, but i will say that it's happening on wednesday (and starting out on tuesday) of next week. set your calendar, because this one is a doozy! i'm probably going to take a little hiatus from blogging over the next few days to prepare for this exciting event, but i may pop in from time to time with finds or new work.. we'll see :)

southern charm - savannah, ga

with the humidity and warmer temperatures gracing us with their presence here in nj, my memories drift to a year i spent in savannah, georgia, at the savannah college of art and design (scad). here are some dreamy things that remind me of the way that magical place felt...

wrought iron fences were everywhere (andrea fanton), the old fashioned feeling of this cameo (arreign) completely sums up the graceful age of the city, and the lovely drink decanter up there is from the paris market, which is actually in savannah (i've never been to this particular shop, but it looks like i would love it!) as do antique wood crates filled with wild plants (the primitive home), the night filled with a beautiful soft glow (racey tay), fresh linen (affaires nomades), and mossy trees (vlad)

to end this post, i think it is only appropriate that my pandora player has given me sara bareilles's version of sittin' on the dock of the bay ("i left my home in georgia...") what a wonderful coincidence !

this week was a little less productive than i would have liked, but i do have two new sweets for you to check out. it was almost difficult for me to post these necklaces for sale - i totally want to keep them! this is becoming quite the problem with making only one of a kind pieces now!

i've been a busy bee here today getting lots of new goodies in the shop for you! as promised, i have added as much new stuff as possible! i'm going to be sad to see some of these lovelies go (lots of vintage and one of a kind today!) but i already have them packaged away in my inventory, so i'm not tempted to keep them :) check it out..!

before i got to all this shop updating madness, (which, by the way - it is so good i only do this one day a week now - so many details to pay attention to!) yesterday i created another little illustration in the same vein as the previous day. collector of dreams is available as prints in the shop, or you can pick up the original, too!

 
i decided it might be better to stick with acrylic for the face of this little lady - results in a much smoother skin tone than i experienced with the last painting. i also really love how the flowers turned out in this composition. for these paintings, i've been sketching out the figure, but letting myself play around with the floral elements. sometimes this results in spontaneous happiness, while other times, it can end up in a big, muddy mess. it's a risk i'm willing to take though! when it turns out well, there is no comparison to the satisfaction!

anticipation

yesterday, i got down to making some fun new jewelry and i can't wait to share it! but... i've decided to make my weekly makings a bit of a surprise from now on :) in order to keep myself on a better schedule (as i've been attempting to do for the last few weeks) i have decided to only update my shop on fridays. i'm hoping this will allow me more time to focus on actual making, and create less chaos when it comes to all the updates. i also have hopes that this will be exciting for all of you out there! the anticipation is way more fun, right? **edit 4/15** the shop update for the week is being postponed until next friday due to an overwhelming surge of orders from the press feature mentioned below! thanks everyone!! :)

i would also like to share the exciting feature i was included in on the etsy blog yesterday! i actually scored the top spot for the post, so that was pretty exciting :) i am honored to be included amongst such amazing finds from guest curator, pennyweight. (such an awesome blog! one that is definitely making its way into my blog roll to the right!)

march showers... bring me spring!

it was raining endlessly yesterday and i ended up creating a little sweetie inspired by the spring time showers (or at least i would like to think of them as spring-like - most would have dubbed the torrential downpour we had as a monsoon!)

i also got to making some pretty neat jewelry this week. i am permanently attached to the dainty little freshwater pearl necklace below!
