lately i've been getting down to planning out some new things and making some changes for my lil biz. for the time being, i've decided i'm putting a hold on some of the different projects i'm always working on - namely, jewelry, home decor, etc. i think it's best for me to focus on my art and illustrations, since it's been pretty apparent for quite some time now, that that's where my strength lies. not only do i love it the most, but it seems like you guys (my oh so lovely customers!) gravitate towards my art, prints and stationery much more than anything else. so, the time has come that i should embrace the fact that i am an illustrator, and stop doubting that i can make a living with just paints and markers.
for some reason, even when i was starting out in college, the notion that i could make a career out of "painting" and "drawing" seemed delusional. i almost hate to say this, but i've felt like it just wasn't possible up until lately, when my mind (and my endless amounts of spreadsheets and charts) are telling me - this is possible and it is really happening! i think i've been hiding behind all the other things i make, and the term "designer" so i sound less like a crazy person and more like a professional adult. well, you know what, i'm an adult who paints. yup. i think i finally have the courage to own up to it. that's all i do. i don't do anything else. and i think i'm okay with that. (even though the above paragraph is almost reminiscent of someone explaining how unicorns do exist... at least that's how i keep rereading it in my head)
as you will see, the website and the etsy shop have been pared down to include only art, prints and stationery. i like the way it's shaping up, and hopefully this trimming will knock me into a trajectory of actually believing i can do this without all the bells and whistles.
if you believe that you can do it, you will.
so, having said all that, here's one of my newest..
I truly love your art. You're very gifted and not just anyone can make it as an artist. You have to have true talent and my dear, you do! Can't wait to purchase my first one!
