i finally got around to posting the new stationery designs on etsy and fey handmade! there are two new designs and i have redone some of the other photos so you can see just how lovely the designs are with their sweet envelopes! i'm having a bunch of fun with this :)
yes, i have gone missing for some days now. i've been drifting in and out of some obsessive artist tendencies - drawing, planning, putting my pack-ratty-ness to good use for once - and i'm thinking i may be on the right track towards something really, really good, to hopefully unfold over the course of the next few months. i think that my patience vs. my excitement battle, that i've been fighting for as long as i can remember, might be starting to even out. you just gotta have faith that if you do one small thing, every day, eventually, all that patience will end up becoming the big thing you were originally hoping for. yea. that sounds good for now. :)

i can't even tell you how i felt yesterday when three of my original paintings sold to three wonderful customers, or how it felt to have two other paintings reserved by a close friend and a family member (my mom got a little upset at the thought of her favorite painting traveling away from us! lol). this means that almost all of my original works have left or are leaving my studio! if you haven't been over to my etsy shop lately, you might like to know that i am having a pre-spring sale - 20% off everything! and i believe this may have been the culprit in the matter, but it's still feeling a bit like a dream. i've had most of these paintings safely stored in my little studio for almost 2-3 years, and i could look at them and feel proud whenever i wanted, so to have them all go within such a short time, just feels a little unreal! last week, i also shipped off one of the only original oils i've ever created, so, like i said earlier, i can't even describe this feeling! i guess i'm ecstatic?! i've never been this excited about anything and i guess the only thing that keeps humming in the back of my mind is - 'this means you get to make more!' so, i guess that's what i should do. :) ah!
i just want to say a little thank you for all the support i've received over the past year or so. i can't believe i get to do this for a living, and right now, i feel as if i won the lottery because of all of you wonderful people out there! i wish i could send out hundreds of hugs!!! thank you!!!
there is a whole lotta stuff going on today and i don't even know what made me wander on over to the renegade website to see if they have me on there yet, and they do! they emailed me last week to let me know that my newest shipment of goodies would be available online and i was super psyched :)
on top of that, i'm a busy bee packing lots of orders over here and sorting out a whole bunch of new projects that are in the works! for instance, i'm so excited about all the new framing options that will be coming soon to the shop site - handmade frames! how fantastic! along with all the tweaks i've been making to make shopping super lovely and easy over there. i really think it's starting to come together! i've learned so much about web design since i started up my site in 2008, but i still sometimes feel like i'm getting dressed in the dark when i'm trying to figure out certain solutions to coding that i don't understand :)
oh my goodness, this day has just flown by! hope your mondays are all going swimmingly out there!
i cannot believe that i opened up the paper this morning to find an article featuring the place i used to work! it isn't so much of a surprise, because pink cake box always gets lots of amazing and well deserved attention, but the ny times is kind of a big deal!! i miss it there so much sometimes (especially since i'm all by myself most days!) and it is so great to see my former boss, anne, shine! check out the article over at the ny times! ah!! congrats anne!!
i love when new music comes out. music changes your reality and i always feel like it signifies the opening of a new chapter. new radiohead is available for download today (thanks to my brother for pointing this out on monday!) i believe they were supposed to release it on their site on saturday, but to my pleasant surprise, it was up on their site today! go support these amazing artists and purchase the mp3 album for a measly nine bucks. pennies for starting anew.
hope you're all having a wonderful valentine's day out there! pictured above, you can see one of my lovely gifts! my boyfriend is quite thoughtful - he didn't just get me flowers - he got me a plant! i am so excited to have this beautiful orchid in my apartment :) tonight i'm going to be cooking an exciting dinner of homemade crab ravioli, spinach salad and, to end the meal, mexican chocolate cake! yummm
i had to try really hard to get myself to do work today because i kind of love celebrating this holiday. yes, there's a lot of hype involved, but it always brings me back to when i met my boyfriend.. so for us, it's a little bit more than just a silly card giving holiday. it's a long story, but to keep it short (and sweet!) all i'll say is that a way to a man's heart is truly through his stomach! when valentine's day came around a few years ago, i made him some exotic truffles and mustered up the courage to ask him out. it worked quite well and we are together and very happy all these years later :)
off i go to create some more magic in the kitchen! wish me luck! :)
i'm so excited to share pillow #1! i felt inspired to sew today, and i just ordered a whole bunch of beautiful linen, so i needed to test out my pillow sewing skills before the new fabric arrives. i have to confess that i was a bit nervous, considering i have no formal sewing training, but i think all the self-teaching i've done over the years has paid off. i bought this pink and cream colored faux suede fabric a while ago, for another idea that never came about, but it came in handy for today! i think this pillow is really chic and sweet - and it definitely goes with my overall aesthetic. a lovely neutral to start with.
as i keep creating new things, i've also noticed that i kind of adore styling photos. you can make anything look fabulous if you style it right. when i started fey handmade, back in the day, that was the main premise around the whole idea. i wanted to showcase lovely things that weren't getting the attention they deserved because the photo styling could have been improved (of course i didn't realize that's what it was called back then! haha). i learned a lot about that whole process, and i'm so glad i did, because now i can apply it to my own designs! yippee! (i think i also might have a wee advantage because the windows in my apartment are awesome for great photos)
